From 1979 to 1991,Tony Petrello practiced Law at Baker & McKenzie focused on international arbitration, taxation and general corporate law and served as managing partner of the New York office from 1986 till 1991. He then served as Managing Partner of the firm’s New York office from 1986 through 1991. He then moved on to Nabors and has significant role in the development of Nabors Industries which started as Anglo Energy, Ltd. in 1968. Tony provides strategic planning and direction which allows the the Nabors Company to adapt and prosper in a dynamic competitive environment. He was elected to the Nabors Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Board in 1991 and has served as President and Chief Operational Officer from 91-2011. He then became Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board in 2012. Nabors is the world’s largest geothermal and natural gas drilling contractor.
Nabors Industries has had many changes happen since 2012 when they made Tony Petrello the CEO of the company. Since then, there has been quite an increase in activity. NBR signed an agreement to form the JV with Saudi Aramco, the largest energy company in the world and Baker Hughes and GE have agreed to a partnership. In February of this year, Nabors Industries made an alliance with Weatherford International to deliver enhanced drilling solutions to the upstream US onshore energy industry.
There is so much more coming for Nabor’s. They aim to maximize market share and one of NBR’s customers issued requisitions for nearly two dozen rigs. NBR expects to mobilize the rigs in Saudi Arabia and NBR expects to generate $500 million in annual EBITDA (or earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization) from its international business from 2016 and in 2017.
