The executive chairperson of QI Group, Vijay Eswaran, has played a pivotal role in enhancing the success of the company. He has enabled the corporation to expand its portfolio by investing in education, financial services, hospitality, retail and direct selling business.
The flagship subsidiary of QI Group, QNET, was instrumental in merging traditional methods of selling with the emerging e-commerce model. Vijay contends that he founded QNet in 1998.
He goes on to say that he envisioned a company that would utilize the human touch of direct selling with the internet. He asserts that the success of the company is anchored on the use of its innovative e-commerce platform and direct selling business model.
Eswaran recalls that he debated endlessly with his business partner, Jospeh Bismark, on the appropriate business that would give them a competitive edge in the industry. To this end, they devised an innovative precious metals and numismatic model that was anchored on the world-class strategies adopted by the thriving European market.
In 1998, they succeeded in procuring the right to participate in the sale of commemorative coins in preparation of the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Vijay says that even though they were the late entrants into the market, they had adequate marketing strategies. However, they had less time. Most of their competitors were amused by their operations. But by the year 2000, they had succeeded in ranking among the top three distributors in sales volume out of the 42 entities that participated in the selling process.
Eswaran asserts that when he was starting business, he did not have funding or connections. In addition, Asia was experiencing the harshness of the economic crisis. This way, no one believed that his business would succeed in the market. Vijay says that he was convinced that he would not agree to waste his time making money for another person. The shrewd entrepreneur said that he was lucky to meet with like-minded persons. He also remembers the support that he received from his wife.
He posits that even today he continues to face many setbacks. Vijay says that if he does not face challenges in his life, he would not be in a position to progress in life. Today, QI group ranks as one of the leading direct selling companies in the globe.
